Senior season has officially started!!! Last week I just got done photographing Alek for his 2012 senior portraits!!!! Alek came to me last fall to get his senior portrait for the yearbook and then wanted to wait until this year to get a full collection of senior portraits taken. We had a complete blast doing Alek’s senior portraits!!! Alek is a really cool kid and has great goals for his future!!! It was a ton of fun chatting with Alek and his mother during the session. For Alek’s senior portraits we went to Lansing MI Old Town to capture some epic pictures!!!! Lansing MI Old Town was the perfect place to go for Alek. It offered tons of options. Alek brought his long board along and I captured him skating….something he loves to do.

Newborn Photography | Taelah | Lansing MI Photographer | Yankee Photo

I am so lucky to have such a fun job!!! I was fortunate to take some newborn portraits for Taelah yesterday!!! Taelah is 3 weeks old and just a doll!!! Newborn photography is one of my favorite things to do at my studio! I love their tiny feet and little hands! I love their beautiful bright eyes and sleepy face too! Newborn photography is a great way to always remember how tiny and precious your child is! Taelah did great at her first photo shoot! She was awake for the pictures with her parents which showed off her beautiful blue eyes…then she fell fast asleep for the creative newborn portraits! I love how tiny she curled up when doing the pictures of just Taelah.

Taelah’s parents were excited to do newborn portraits of her. This is their first child and they couldn’t be prouder parents!!! Taelah is so loved already and is lucky to have them!!! I had some great hats to use in her photos and Taelah’s parents Rachelle and Greg brought some hats with them too. They also brought a special afghan with them to personalize the portraits! With newborn photography it’s great to personalize the photos with stuffed animals or special blankets! I have tons of different backdrops that will go with anything a client brings into the studio!

Last week I had Eric and Lynn come into the studio with their six month daughter Viktorija for some children portraits and family portraits!!! What a beautiful family!!! Viktorija is very lucky to have such wonderful parents who love her deeply!!! It was great to see Viktorija’s sweet smile! Viktorija wore a beautiful spring dress with pink flowers! She looked angelic and was a perfect model!!!

Six months is a great time to get children portraits and family portraits taken! At six months old children are smiling all the time and that always shows their personalities! Children grow so fast it’s a good idea to get some professional children portraits taken to remember this special time! It’s amazing how fast they grow over the first year! At Yankee Photography I offer a kids club to capture all the special moments with children portraits at each milestone.

Eric, Lynn and Viktorija came to me from Lansing MI. My studio is located in East Lansing MI close to the states Capital in Lansing MI. Nicole came back into the studio with Lianna for a few more newborn portraits! I had a couple more ideas that we didn’t have time for the first day. Nicole really cherishes her newborn portraits from her first daughter Mailee and wanted the same precious pictures for her second daughter Lianna! Having Lianna come into the studio the second time for portraits was really helpful! We were able to get her to sleep through most of the newborn portraits.

I love photographing newborns!!! They look like peaceful angels when they are all curled up! I keep the studio nice and warm so the newborn is comfortable, and I use a heating pad to warm the blanket that I place them on. It takes a lot of patience and a few hours but the newborn portraits are so worth it!!!!

It is best to do newborn portraits before they are about a week and a half old. This gives us the best chance they will sleep through it.

I have an amazing ceremony to blog about today!!! It’s Baqir and Fizza’s Mehndi ceremony! It was an honor to capture such an important moment in their lives!!! I am so lucky to be a part of so many wonderful couples lives doing their wedding photography! My studio is based out of Lansing MI, but I photograph wedding ceremonies all over Michigan. Baqir and Fizza’s Mehndi ceremony took place at Fizza’s parents house. It was the perfect setting for a special event! There was a large tent set up for guest to sit and enjoy the meal. There was also a stage tent set up where the action took place. During the Menhdi ceremony Baqir arrived with a grand entrance! He was escorted with his close friends and family under a dupatta. A Dohl drum player led the group up the drive way and to the stage. Baqir’s close friends and family carried baskets of sweets for Fizza as a sign of good luck and longevity. Fizza followed Baqir’s entrance in a similar fashion. She walked under the Dupatta with her brother by her side. She looked magnificent in a green traditional gown. Once Baqir and Fizza were sitting on the stage henna was symbolically placed on their hands. And sweets were fed to both Baqir and Fizza. It was a beautiful, meaningful ceremony and I was blessed to capture all the action!!

With wedding photography it is so important to capture all the right images! I am so lucky to photograph all the special moments that my couples cherrish! Yesterday Lianna came into the studio for some newborn portraits!!! She was just 9 days old and the sweetest baby ever!!!! She did amazing at her first photo shoot! Lianna was accompanied by her parents Nicole and Jim, her big sister Mailee and her other sister Shay. Over the past 20 months I have done Mailee’s first year milestone portraits. Newborn portraits are best done within 2 weeks of birth! This is a good time where you can get the newborn to sleep. Lianna was a perfect angel during the session! She was awake and alert for part of the session and then she slept during the second half of pictures! Newborn portraits are a great way to always remember the tiny features of the newborn!

It was important to me to capture the whole family with Lianna. Her first of many family portraits! The pictures of Lianna and her Mother, Nicole were priceless! I just love how she fits on Nicole’s shoulder. It was also beautiful to see Lianna’s size compared to her dad, Jim’s hands and arms. Jim was able to cradle Lianna in his arms as she slept.

This shot is by far my favorite!! I love the vintage feel and how peaceful Lianna looks!!! Lianna is such a beautiful newborn!!!

Lianna fit so well cradled in Nicole’s loving arms!!!

I absolutely love this image as well!!!! She is so safe and comfortable in Jim’s arms she was fast asleep! Her peaceful face is beautiful!

Lianna’s bright eyes are so amazing! She was so interested in all her surroundings!

Mailee and Lianna are going to grow up being best friends!!! They are so lucky to have each other!!!!

It is going to be so much fun watching Lianna grow over the next years worth of pictures!!! Her newborn portraits were just the beginning…She will be back for Three Month, Six Month, Nine Month and Twelve Month Portraits!!!

Abby is going to be having her first communion in one week! She came into my studio today to have some children photography first communion portraits taken to celebrate her special day!! This is such a special time in her life and should be celebrated with children portraits so that she can remember this day forever!!! Abby came into the studio so excited to have the photography session all about her! She is such a sweet girl and is a huge animal lover! To make her smile all we had to do is talk about her favorite animals like gorillas and cats! It was a pleasure to photograph such a sweet young lady in a very special moment in her life!

Senior portraits fill my summer days with so much fun!!! Senior portraits are a great way to celebrate becoming a senior and graduating high school! Sasha came to Yankee Photography for her senior portraits a few years ago. I was looking through my past computer files and came across her senior portrait session. It’s one of my all time favorite sessions! Sasha had a friend who owned antique cars and thought it would be awesome to have her senior portraits with them! I wanted her senior portraits to be about Sasha and not about the cool cars so I chose to only show only a portion of the cars. I love the vintage cars and Sasha’s easy going outfit! In photoshop I enhanced the photos to have a vintage feel! I love the antique effect with the classic cars!

Sasha came to me from Okemos MI. My studio is located in East Lansing MI, but I photograph seniors from all the surrounding areas such as Okemos MI, East Lansing MI, Lansing MI, Haslett MI, Williamston MI and Mason MI. I travel outside of East Lansing MI for on-location senior photography sessions! It is always fun shooting in new locations! I try to make every ones senior portraits special!!! I love creating art with the focus on the senior!

I had an amazing time photographing Makayla’s 10 Month children photography session earlier tonight!!! Makayla is always fun to photograph!!! It was the perfect night for Makayla’s pictures at the Michigan State University Gardens in East Lansing MI near Okemos MI. Makayla has grown so much since her first children portrait session as a newborn. She just keeps getting cuter and cuter each time I see her!!

Makayla has the best smile and lights up the camera with every shot! I love her big brown eyes and toothless grin! It has been great seeing Makayla grow up and I can’t wait to see her again for her one year children photography session!
